Quick Tip

You can use both full Pinterest URLs and shortened 'pin.it' links. Our tool will automatically expand short links for you.

Which Pinterest downloader do you need?

SortPin has three free web downloaders, and picking the right one saves you a step. Here is the quick routing guide:

Downloading a video?

The Pinterest Video Downloader is tuned for video pins and always surfaces the best MP4 rendition first, so you spend less time picking the right file.

Saving a story or Idea Pin?

Multi-slide pins need special handling. The Pinterest Story Downloader splits every slide out individually — images and video clips alike — instead of grabbing only the cover.

Photos and everything else?

You are in the right place. This page handles standard image pins, GIFs and mixed content, and it will still fetch videos and stories if you paste one — it is the all-in-one tool.

How to download from Pinterest

The flow is the same everywhere: open the pin on Pinterest, copy its link (the share icon has a Copy link option on every platform), paste it into the box at the top of this page and press the button. The tool fetches the pin in real time and lists every available file with a direct download link — no sign-up, no watermark.

On iPhone and iPad

Tap the share icon on the pin, choose Copy link, then paste it here in Safari. Images save through the long-press menu or the share sheet and land in the Photos app; videos downloaded via Safari go to the Files app under Downloads, from where you can move them into Photos.

On Android

Copy the pin link from the Pinterest app's share menu and paste it here in Chrome or any browser. Files are saved to your Download folder and show up in your gallery automatically once the media scanner picks them up.

On desktop

Copy the URL straight from the browser address bar while viewing the pin — no share menu needed. Downloads go to your browser's default download folder, and because you can open several tabs, desktop is the fastest way to save a batch of pins one after another.

Formats and quality

Every file comes straight from Pinterest's own servers: original quality, no watermark, no re-encoding. Here is what each pin type turns into:

Pin contentSaved as
Photo / imageJPG or PNG in the original resolution — Pinterest stores multiple sizes and the tool lists them all
VideoMP4, HD when Pinterest provides an HD stream
GIFMP4 (Pinterest serves animations as short videos)
Story / Idea Pin slideIndividual slides, each as its own image or MP4

Troubleshooting

I get an "invalid URL" error

The tool needs a link to a single pin — something like pinterest.com/pin/1234… — not a board, profile or search page. Open the pin itself, copy the link again and make sure nothing was cut off or added while pasting.

Can I download private or deleted pins?

No. The downloader can only fetch what Pinterest serves publicly. Pins on secret boards, pins from private accounts and pins the creator has deleted are not reachable — that is a Pinterest restriction, not a bug.

Do pin.it short links work?

Yes. The Pinterest app often shares pin.it short links instead of full URLs. Paste them as-is — the tool resolves the redirect to the real pin automatically.

Why am I offered several image sizes?

Pinterest keeps every image in multiple resolutions — small thumbnails for feeds, medium sizes for the pin page and the untouched original. Rather than guessing, the tool lists them all; the originals entry is the full-quality upload and usually the one you want.

The page loads but my pin shows nothing

Occasionally a pin has been removed between the moment you copied the link and the moment you pasted it, or Pinterest briefly rate-limits the request. Re-copy the link from the pin and try once more; if it still comes back empty, the pin is most likely no longer public.

Three ways to download: web, extension, or Telegram bot

This web tool is the zero-install option: it works in any browser on any device, which makes it ideal for occasional downloads or for saving something on a phone or a computer that is not yours. The tradeoff is the copy-paste round trip for every pin.

If you live on Pinterest, the SortPin extension for Chrome and Firefox removes that round trip entirely: a download button appears on pins while you browse, alongside the sorting and filtering features the extension is built around. It requires an install, so it only helps on your own desktop browser.

The third option is the free Telegram bot, @SortPin_bot. Send /pin <pinterest-url> in a chat and it replies with the pin's image, MP4 video or full story in two to three seconds — in groups, use /pin@sortpin_bot. It is the fastest option on mobile, since sharing a link into Telegram is quicker than switching to a browser, and the files stay in your chat history for later. Few Pinterest downloaders offer all three surfaces; pick whichever fits the moment, or read the bot tutorial to see it in action.

Privacy and legality

Every download is fetched from Pinterest in real time and streamed straight to you — nothing is stored on SortPin's servers, and no account is required. Please only download public pins, keep the files for personal use, and respect the rights of the creators who made them: if you want to republish someone's work, ask for their permission first.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does this Pinterest downloader work?

Paste the link to any Pinterest pin into the box above and hit download. The tool fetches the pin and shows every available video, story, and image, so you can save them to your device in HD.

2. Is this Pinterest downloader free to use?

Yes, it's completely free. There are no fees, subscriptions, or hidden charges, and you don't need to create an account or install an app.

3. What can I download from Pinterest?

You can download videos, stories (idea pins), and images from any public pin. The tool detects whatever the pin contains and offers each item in the highest quality available.

4. Is it legal to download content from Pinterest?

Saving content for personal use is generally fine, but you should always respect copyright and Pinterest's terms of service. Only reuse or republish a pin with the creator's permission.

5. Can I download several pins at once?

For now, the tool handles one pin at a time. To save more, simply paste the next link once the first download has finished.

6. The downloader isn't working — what should I do?

First, check that you pasted a full, valid Pinterest pin URL or a pin.it short link. If it still won't load, refresh the page or clear your browser cache, and get in touch with us if the problem continues.

7. Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The downloader runs in any mobile or desktop browser, so it works on iPhone, Android, tablets, and computers without installing anything.

8. Do you store the files I download?

No. Downloads happen in real time and nothing is saved on our servers — we keep no copy of the pins you download and no record of your activity.

9. Is the tool available in other languages?

Yes, the SortPin downloader is available in more than 15 languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Just pick your language from the menu on the page.
